Straits Times 22nd August 2026
Despite facing an aging workforce and outdated perceptions of skilled trades, SECA remains steadfast in championing the future of Singapore’s electrical sector. As highlighted in The Straits Times on 22nd August 2026, over a third of our ~3,700 Licensed Electrical Workers are over 60, making local talent replenishment a critical priority.
Building a sustainable workforce is a challenging task, but SECA is actively stepping up to make it work. Through our partnership with MOM, STAS, and key agencies on the STEP SCLP initiative, we are establishing clear career pathways, structured apprenticeships, and tech-driven training.
With the support of SECA members and industry parters, together, we are reshaping public perceptions, uplifting professional recognition, and empowering the next generation to proudly build a rewarding, resilient career in electrical trades.
